Joni Patry, 45+ years

You've had your chart read.
You still can't read it.

You've sat through readings and still couldn't tell anyone how the astrologer got there. Or you're the one people come to with "what does this mean for me?" — and you're tired of guessing.

Vedic astrology isn't something you assemble from a YouTube rabbit hole at midnight. It takes real teaching. It just doesn't have to take years.

Two classes. Six hours. Enough to open a chart
and know what you're looking at.

In her own words

"I'm not going to hand you a list of keywords. I'm going to teach you the same techniques I use with my own clients: the ones that let you look at a chart and say when."

Joni Patry

What you'll learn

Read a chart in the order Joni reads one. Ascendant first, then the planet that rules it, then where that planet sits. She says this is the first thing she teaches every student.

All twelve houses, properly — not keywords, but what each one governs and why the numbers relate to each other the way they do.

Why the Vedic chart differs from the Western one — precession, the ayanamsa, and the roughly 24 degrees that changes almost everything the chart says.

The special aspects. Mars, Jupiter and Saturn each reach further than a conjunction, and knowing where they land is what makes an empty house matter.

The dasha system. How the Moon's position at your birth dates every major chapter of your life, and why your life changes shape when the period changes.

How to read transits against the period you're in — which is what turns a chart into a date.

Joni's own rule for when a prediction is safe to make: three converging indications, never one.

This is for you if

"Learn Vedic astrology" has been on your list for years and keeps moving to next year.

You want to read a chart, not collect keywords off Instagram.

You're considering the full certification and want to know what you're getting into first.

You know Western astrology and keep hearing that Vedic explains what Western can't.

This probably isn't for you if

You want your own chart read — book a reading with Joni instead.

You need a certificate at the end — that's the six-semester program.

You want live Q&A — these two classes are recorded.

Joni Patry

Forty-five years of charts: twenty in the Western system, twenty-five in Vedic. She switched for one reason, and it is the reason she teaches. Read against the sidereal zodiac and its 27 nakshatras — each one 13°20' of sky — a chart stops describing who you are and starts telling you when.

She works from Dallas. Fifteen books, keynotes at international conferences, national and international television, a faculty seat at the field's major associations, and her own magazine, Joni Patry's Astrology Insights. Named 2015 Jyotish Star of the Year, and honoured with Dr. B. V. Raman's Janma Shatamanothsava Award, Jyotisha Choodamani.

She spent twenty years unable to tell people when. She built UVA so the next astrologer would not have to.

Questions

Do I need to know Western astrology first?

No. The classes start from the chart itself. If you do know Western astrology, Joni shows you where the two systems part company — most people find their planets sit in different signs than they expected.

Do I need software or a chart to follow along?

Nothing to buy. Joni works through charts on screen. Having your own chart to hand makes it more useful, and free sidereal calculators will produce one from your birth date, time and place.

Are the classes live?

No — both classes are recorded, so you start the moment you enrol and watch at your own pace.

How long do I have access?

Lifetime access. Once you enrol the two classes stay in your library — there is no window to watch them in.

What's the difference between this and the full certification?

Six hours against six semesters. This is enough to open a chart and read it. The certification is forty-seven classes with graded assignments, an assigned tutor, live sessions and a final reading with Joni.

Will I be able to read my own chart after six hours?

You'll be able to open it, name what you're seeing, and follow the reasoning that leads to a prediction. Reading fluently for other people takes longer — that is what the certification is for.

An afternoon from now, the chart makes sense.

Two classes with Joni, six hours, yours to start the moment you enrol.
